Essay Prompts Having a Christian college education is important to many students not just because of their personal faith, but can also be an important basis for their future career. Students who felt that there was a lack of a Christian presence in their high school might also be looking for a more faith-based environment. Even if you love to write, it can seem overwhelming to write the perfect essay when there are a million other loose ends to wrap up before graduation. Luckily, writing your essay isn’t as hard as it may seem. Start early.Make a list of the number of essays you need to write and their deadlines. In my experience, many things are lost in translation from original work through the years into our modern textbooks. Not only are some nuances potentially lost, but textbooks can take away the intellectual work of deciphering what the author is conveying. There is less exploration in thought on the materials. The Great Books being a part of the curriculum at St. John’s is quite critical to learners because there is no premise that students will be taught what to think and express, but rather how to think and articulate. Looking through a pamphlet that was sent to me, I notice that there are many philosophical texts in the curriculum throughout all four years. I thought clichés only existed in works of fiction, unfortunately, middle school was the exception. School became a disillusioned thought, a chore and a struggle to stay passionate and curious. Wake up early to go to the same classes, with the same lectures, with the same homework and tested periodically on information I knew was going to be forgotten the next day. I sought understanding, comprehension, and sustenance. To my great displeasure, I stumbled through monotonous lectures, repetitive textbooks, and stacks of useless multiple-choice quizzes. Instead, break the essay into parts â€" brainstorm topics one week, write an opening paragraph the next week. The following week, write the body of the paper, or even start over if the opening paragraph just doesn’t work for them. After writing the rough draft, let the essay sit for a week or so, and then go back to polish it. I’ve written dozens of articles about college admission, ranging from beginning the college search to financial aid. Give yourself plenty of time to think through the topics and brainstorm writing points. If writing is not your strength, or you are applying at a US university and English is your second language, this might be a cause for worry.Please don’t panic!
